The following outcomes of the conference have been identified:
  • “Jumelage” Université de la Réunion/University of Mauritius

  • Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Mauritius and Université Paris 6, currently under negotiation, for the co-production of ICT related online material, aiming in the longer term, at the development of a Master degree programme co-delivered by the two universities.

  • Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Mauritius and LICEF (Teluq, UQAM), currently under negotiation, that would make the virtual campus platform, learning object repository Explora 2 and related content materials, freely available for the co-diffusion in the Indian Ocean region.

  • Set of joint publications ICOOL 2003 - “Colloque de Guéret” :

    · Joint bilingual CD-ROM including PPT and Video presentations from both events.

    · Publication at Presses de l’Université du Québec (PUQ) of a book in French, from a selection of keynote papers presented in Colloque de Guéret and ICOOL 2003, mainly on issues related to primary and secondary education.

    · Publication by a US publisher (contact will be provided by Pr Beverly Woolf,) of a collective book in English on developmental work research, entitled: “Community Development & Networking for Capacity Building”.

  • Ongoing project on the organisation of ICOOL 2005 with the “World Information Technology Forum”, WITFOR 2005 to be held in Botswana under the auspices of the UNESCO and the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). This project would establish Mauritius as a major player for the development of e-learning solutions in the Indian Ocean and South East African regions.

  • Bernard Bonnet, Vice-Président aux Relations Internationales de l’Université de la Réunion, reports on (SIG n° 3 via mail) about OOL in public-private partnership :
Les participants ont retenu de cette session l’apport qu’elle a permis :
- en matière de connaissance de l’autre et des projets en cours et de communication public-privé et transnationale privé-privé et public-public;
- d’obtenir une information sur les programmes et contenus de formation ;
- d’entendre la volonté du gouvernement Mauricien de développer le partenariat public-privé ;
- de constater l’existence d’une communauté d’intérêts et de conflits d’intérêts ;
- d’exprimer le souhait de voir un prolongement d’ICOOL et de voir les propositions présentées par l’atelier mises en œuvre prochainement.
